Common questions

Questions, answered plainly.

Do I need ID or proof of income to get food?

No. The Food Source Foundation never asks for ID, income verification, or paperwork of any kind. If you need food, you qualify.

How do I get free groceries in Olympia?

Grocery availability is announced once or twice a week in the Souper Sunday Facebook group. Request a box there or through our contact page, and we'll arrange free pickup or delivery anywhere in the greater Olympia area.

How does the free soup work?

Hot homemade soup goes out every Tuesday and Sunday through Souper Sunday. Availability is announced at 4:00 PM in the Facebook group and requests are taken until 5:30 PM.

I have a job — can I still get help?

Yes. Many of the neighbors we serve are fully employed but priced out of groceries by rent, insurance, and bills. There are no income requirements and no judgment.

Are there food resources for seniors, students, or kids?

Yes. The directory on this page lists senior meal programs, student pantries at SPSCC and Evergreen, and youth services like Rosie's Place — filter by type to find them.
